MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — On Sunday at approximately 9:32 p.m., a Meridian Police Officer attempted to stop a blue Dodge Ram 2500 for speeding and reckless driving.
While driving in the bicycle lane, the pickup drove around a stopped vehicle waiting at the red light. The pickup then turned northbound onto N. Eagle Rd., failing to stop at the red light before turning right.
The officer attempted a traffic stop on the pickup, but it turned into the parking lot and fled back onto N. Eagle Rd. The officer pursued but lost sight at Ustick Rd.
Shortly after, dispatch received a report from the caller the pickup had parked at a business on the 100 block of E. Eagles Gate Dr. in Eagle. When the officer located the truck, there was no occupant in it.
Dispatch later received a stolen vehicle report from 18-year-old Ethan Measell, who wanted to report the blue Dodge Ram 2500 as stolen. During further investigation, officers determined Measell was the driver and falsely reported it stolen.
Measell turned himself in at the Meridian Police Department without incident.
Measellwas arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on one misdemeanor count of Reckless Driving and one felony count of Fleeing or Attempting to elude an officer in a Motor Vehicle.
