As the Mini-rework for Jax is on the horizon, Riot has finally shared all the ability changes.
Riot introduced a brand-new type of champion update known as a mini-rework or mid-scope update in season 12. With this update, Riot changes the champion’s kit without giving them a complete overhaul. As a result, the champions can be viable and enjoyable to play in the solo queue.
A lot of champions received mini-reworks in 2022. Recently, Tahm Kench and Zeri received some massive mini-reworks. Furthermore, Riot has confirmed that many champions are slated to receive a mini-rework sometime in the future, like Neeko, Rell, and, most importantly, Jax.
Jax is one of the oldest characters in League of Legends. But still, he is one of the game’s most popular and reliable top lane champions. His abilities are easy to understand but hard to master. Because of Jax’s playstyle, both new players and veterans still play Jax to this day.
But unfortunately, as new and complex champions like K’Sante join the top lane, it makes competing harder for outdated champions like Jax. Moreover, even Riot is trying to encourage players to try Udyr on the top lane with various changes.
A couple of weeks ago, the lead champion designer for League of Legends, Riot August, confirmed on Twitter that Jax would receive a mini-rework in 2023. And now, finally, he revealed all the ability changes and when the rework will officially release on the live servers.

Jax Mini-Rework
Jax’s rework is one of the smallest compared to others who recently got a rework, like Zeri. In this mini-rework, Riot mostly tried to give Jax more AP ratio than before. Moreover, they also reworked his ultimate entirely.
Although the concept of Jax’s new ultimate remains the same, the ability has been modernized. Only the damage has been altered for his ultimate passive, but the primary difference is his active. Instead of only gaining magic resist and armor for the next 8 seconds, now he can deal magic damage to enemies. If he successfully hits the enemy champion, he gains armor and magic resist. These changes make playing Jax more challenging yet more rewarding.
