Riot will be introducing champion icons for all champions in Patch 13.17.
Patch 13.17 is turning out to be very interesting. On one side, we have the Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin Gacha controversy, and then we have the return of the Essence Emporium.
Let’s start with the Gacha controversy first. Riot, with the recent PBE update, revealed a new skin called Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin. It’s essentially a mythic chroma of the base Dark Cosmic Jhin skin. But unlike mythic chromas that cost 40 ME, it costs an absurd 200$.
To obtain the skin, players are required to open 30 Cosmic Erasure 2023 Capsules. With each capsule costing 750 RP, it would need a 22500 RP to get the chroma, making the skin a glorified 200$ chroma. Riot’s decision to make such a blatant cash grab skin was universally panned and thus received tons of backlash.
Controversies aside, let’s talk about some of the good things coming in the Patch. The Essence Emporium is finally coming back. Along with the Essence Emporium, we are also getting Icons for every single champion for the game.
In this article, we will take a look at the new Icons and find out how to get these new icons.
How To Get The New Champion Icons
Each champion in the game will be getting their own Icon, and they will be directly purchasable from the store. Like any Icon in the game, it will cost 250 RP. Although many wanted the Icons to be purchasable with Blue Essence, sadly, that won’t be the case. But Riot did mention that the Icons would be re-rollable.
Release Date
The New Champion Icons will hit live servers on Patch 13.17, which will be released on Thursday, August 31st, 2023.
