Fruitland, IDAHO (CBS2) - After three nights of unsuccessful searching for a missing Fruitland boy, police are asking anyone who may have been in the area where he was last seen to come forward.

Michael Joseph Vaughan was last seen Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m. in the area of SW 9th and Arizona

"Even if you do not believe you have relevant information, please contact us so we can recreate a complete picture of the time and area Michael was last seen," said JD Huff, Fruitland Police Chief. "Every minute counts when searching for a missing child and we appreciate the public's continued support and coordination as we search for Michael."

Police want to talk to anyone who believes they were in the area of SW 8th St., SW 9th St., and Cornwall Way from 6:30 to o7:15 p.m. on July 27.

If you live in the immediate area, you are asked to thoroughly search your property, including all outbuildings, vehicles and irrigation ditches. Huff is also asking residents to review any security camera footage for any sign of a small child in the area.

Michael was last seen wearing a light blue Minecraft t-shirt, dark blue boxer briefs and a child's size 11 blue flip flops. He stands 43 inches tall, weighs 50 pounds, has blonde hair and blue eyes. He answers to the nickname "Monkey."

Extensive searches of the area involving Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue, the Idaho National Guard, Police, EMS, Fire and the community have so far been unsuccessful.

Investigating a missing child is resource intensive, according to Huff. The community is asked to only report information from credible sources to law enforcement.

"Sharing speculation or rumors only makes the process more difficult for investigators," Huff said. "We also want to emphasize Michael's family continues to be fully cooperative with law enforcement. We ask the community to be respectful of their privacy during this difficult time."

The public has been extremely helpful to investigators so far. The outpouring of community support has been overwhelming in this case.

"We are very grateful for the public's assistance and are following up on each lead we receive," Huff added. "We are committed to finding Michael and will leave no stone unturned."
