David Kenny Named CEO Of Nielsen

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) David Kenny has been named as the new CEO of Nielsen Holdings, replacing Mitch Barns, who has announced his retirement after 22 years at the measurement company.

Kenny led IBM’s Cognitive Solutions unit and helped develop Watson. He was also instrumental in creating IBM’s cloud computing efforts. Before IBM, Kenny was chairman and CEO of The Weather Co. and joined IBM when it acquired the Weather Co.’s product and technology business, according to Deadline Hollywood.

There is some overlap: Kenny is expected to assume his position Dec. 3 and Barns’s exit is effective Dec. 31.

The company is also continuing to conduct a strategic review that could result in a reorganization or even sale.
